TriMet 2025 Summer Internships
We’re hiring full-time interns for the summer who have a passion for public transit and improving mobility for our riders in the Portland region.
When and where are the internships?
These are temporary full-time (40 hours per week) positions from spring until fall. Depending on the department, interns must be able to be in-person at least a few days a week at our Portland offices, and up to five days a week as needed.

The pay 💰🤑
Internships pay $21/hour
What are the requirements? ✔️
- You must be a current or incoming college junior, senior or graduate student in a relevant discipline to the internship. Graduates who have completed their degrees within the last 12 months are also eligible.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

What are the start and end dates?
We're anticipating internships to start as early as April 28th and to conclude prior to October. Specific dates depend on when students are finishing up/starting the school year. However, we are able to be flexible.
Where are the internships?
The internships are located in various offices throughout the Portland-metro area of Oregon. All offices are accessible by transit.
Is the internship fully in-office or hybrid?
This is dependent upon the project and the department. Some interns will be making site visits, others will be a mix of remote and in-office. Generally, the expectation is that interns must be able to be in-person at least a few times a week and up to five days a week as needed.
Can I intern remotely?
We are looking for students who are able to intern at our physical offices in Portland, Oregon.
Do I need to be a student from a local university? Can I be an out-of-state student?
Students from any university are welcome! However, we cannot provide relocation or housing. Students must have their own accommodations.
Do I have to work 40 hours, or am I able to work fewer hours a week (part-time)?
These internships are full-time, 40 hours a week.
Will I be able to get school credit for this internship?
This is a paid internship. Students are welcome to work with their departments to arrange school credit.
