2022–23 Transit Service Improvements

Welcome aboard! We’re ready to keep the Portland area moving as more people return to transit. We’re launching FX2-Division on Sept. 18, 2022 and making improvements to our service is faster and more reliable.

Beginning Sunday, September 18, 2022

Route changes

2 Division

FX2-Division is replacing Line 2 Division with high-capacity bus service between Downtown Portland and Gresham along the Division corridor. Longer, 60-foot buses will arrive every 12 minutes for most of the day. FX2-Division will use Tilikum Crossing instead of the Hawthorne Bridge, providing better service to OHSU and PSU.

Forward Together 로고

Forward Together

The Forward Together Project will reorient TriMet bus service to restore ridership and ensure TriMet is providing service that equitably meets the needs of the Portland region. We’re taking a deep look at our existing bus network and whether it is best serving our community. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people travel, so we’re evaluating our plans to move forward together.

A Better Red logo

A Better Red

The Better Red project will extend the MAX Red Line west to the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport Station, serving 10 more stations that only Blue Line trains currently serve. The project also adds a second set of tracks near the Gateway area and Portland International Airport. Currently, MAX Blue, Green and Red line trains traveling in opposite directions have to take turns on this single track section. These bottlenecks affect schedule reliability for the entire MAX system. Adding a second track in these sections will improve service for all riders.

Construction is currently underway, with the new service beginning in fall 2024.

Equitable service

TriMet studies any fare change or major service change for potential impacts on minority and low-income populations. To do this, TriMet conducts an equity analysis whenever such changes are proposed, including service improvements for fall 2021 and spring 2022. Share your thoughts on the draft equity analysis or take a moment to review previous analyses.
